These paintings make me think about how many of us have never experienced even a tiny fraction of what people who've experienced slavery, genocide, and holocausts have. Because these have been forced to withstand such great evil and malice by such overwhelming injustice - in such inhumane, myriad of ways ... Yet these stood and conquered. These are the people, who embody the standards by which we must all be inspired to pursue in our own betterment. These are the people we need most to be around and am grieved in my heart at what they have endured. These portraits do so much good. These are heroes and heroines.

Ms. Owens, I have really enjoyed perusing you pages and I will continue on your website, because I think you paintings are excellent and your sculpture innovative. We have to preserve the memory of our unsung forbears. Thanks.
