Description
The dark waters of the Suwannee river flow from the Okefenokee Swamp in southern Georgia to the Gulf of Mexico in Florida.
The river winds for over 250 miles through swamps, high limestone banks, hammocks of hardwood, and salt marshes, fed by fifty-five springs along the way.
The river is the subject of Stephen Foster's song, "Old Folks at Home," which has been the state song of Florida since 1935.
The palette of this landscape scene is greens and blues.

Thanks for the v and p on what I am sure is a familiar scene to you! When my husband's English sisters came here for a visit, we took them to this spot because they grew up familiar with our state song! (My husband also grew up familiar with "Tallahassee lassie." Little did he know then that he would end up with one as a wife!!)
