This is the actual female gorilla named Suzi Q from the Rio Grande Zoo, Albuquerque, NM. She was leaning up against the wall behind the glass when I took the photo. Her expression inspired me to paint.

I like to experiment with different mediums other than pastels such as acrylics, oils, watercolors and watercolor pencils. Also paints on different surfaces such as ornaments, leather, tree conks, old crosscut saw blades and rocks. When I'm not in my studio painting, I take road trips in various places taking photos as a reference to my painting. I'm also taking up some photography and loving it! Most of my art works are commissioned. My paintings have exhibited in several competition shows and have won numerous awards from the Society of Washington Artists, county solo shows.
