The late night sky is overcast;
the clouds loom, gray and large,
attempting to subdue the splendor
of the autumn moon.
The same is true of life.
I look, always, for a silver lining,
but a haze of tears,
like the tapestry of droplets in the sky,
obscures the view.
Oh, there can be beauty found in clouds,
and we know the weather, at least,
The sun is sure to shine again;
the stars will twinkle, perhaps as early
as tomorrow night.
Life owns no such surety.
I am so tired, and, unlike the wind,
have not the strength
to blow the clouds away.
