JITNY unloading vacationer cars here once ferried US Army troops and armored vehicles to beaches under assault in WW11. My USN duty some 25 years later was aboard LST 1126( Landing Ship Tank) transporting Marines to training exercises in peacetime Pacific. McCalls New Yorker cover hangs above my ship's plaque.

Steam engine locomotives have been a favorite since childhood in the '40s. "Train Race" hangs below a photo of a family member from the '20s in his conductor attire.

Artist's Description

Built in 1882-83, the Tarrytown Lighthouse was first lit in October 1st 1883. It was designated as a family station (as all of the lighthouses along the Hudson River were) which meant that families lived there year round. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1965 and the County of Westchester acquired it in 1974. It was placed on the national Register of Historic Places in 1979. In 2003, the village of Sleepy Hollow celebrated the 150th anniversary of the lighthouse.

About Stephen Serina

Stephen Serina

One of the greatest things we can do in our life is to use the gifts that God has given to us. Stephan J. Serina, Jr. was blessed with the gift of artistry. When work became scarce in Pennsylvania, his family moved to the Pennybridge section of Tarrytown, NY, where his father found work. Steve recognized that he had
a talent for art when he was a young boy. During WWII, he joined the Navy at age 17 and...
