Born and raised in Texas, the State Capital has been a mainstay for me, with many random shots taken throughout the years.
Recently I decided it was time to quite taking this Texas icon for granted, gather my tripod, and head out for planned photo shoot.
Beside the joy of enjoying the feel of light a good sunset brings - like slow waking from a dream - I was able to explore angles and perspective I normally passed by. Over the next few weeks I’ll be preparing and loading more of those shots here at FineArt America
In addition, I became aware I needed to choose between using “capitol” or “capital” in my title. Which I would choose it turned out, depended on what I really felt happening in the sky around me.
Was I seeing the sun rise and begin to illuminate the building? Yes, but was that the extent of my experience?
No, not if the moment, the image before me also evoked the sense - even if only a hope - that a new day was rising on my state’s capital, and on the people elected to represent us in both our smaller and larger goings on here in Texas. That’s a hope I can embrace regardless what party’s in power! So the title, for the effect I feel in this image, is best title with “capital” :)
Texas State Capital Dawn is presented in both panoramic and full size versions
