I started taking photographs when I was 10 and have always enjoyed sharing my images. My photographic heroes are Cartier-Bresson, Brassai, Lee Miller, Halsmann and other photographers of the early part of the 20th century. Their work has always seemed to me to embody the thing that I like most about ‘making pictures’. That moment of surprise, of joy, of beauty, of sadness, of history. I know that there are many who go for the journalistic, editorial moment, but in my work I try to find the fun, the happiness, the essence. One of my favorite photographers, who I discovered far too late, was Bill Cunningham. His pictures always give a sense of delight, and the is what I strive for.
