A very aged, very mysterious looking tree that flanks Monks Mound, in Cahokia, Illinois, directly across the river from St Louis, Missouri & a bird's eye view from the Gateway Arch. Monk's Mound is the tallest of the Cahokia Mounds, a series of man-made earthen hills used for various purposes by the Cahokian Native American culture that resided here and all the way down the length of the Mississippi River. Archeologists have estimated that this culture thrived & flourished in this river basin for thousands of years, & are among the oldest civilizations in the Western Hemisphere.
