An illustrator for over 30 years, Lynn Bywaters creates original drawings and paintings for greeting cards and children's books. She also designs a signature line of collectible figurines for Lenox. Through licensing, her work appears on a variety of products - from puzzles and prints to gift bags and tins. Most of Lynn's finely detailed paintings are small: 5 1/2" x 7 3/4", and done in Winsor & Newton gouache on 3-ply Strathmore Cold Press paper with a #2 Winsor & Newton Series 7 watercolor brush. Because of the extreme detail in these paintings, they can be enlarged without losing their integrity. Many years ago, I purchased The Angel and The Dove as a Christmas greeting card. It has always been my favorite, and I have kept a few spare cards to enjoy over the decades. Last year, I wanted it as a canvas over the fireplace, very happy to find it at Fine Art America, and the painting stays there all year round - not just for Christmas. This angel pulls an emotion from me, of peace and serene compassion. So here is the other part of this story - I discovered that I have been purchasing greeting cards by Lynn Bywaters many many times over the years. I had no idea that the cards I loved the most were created by the same artist! So this Christmas, I have purchased a small canvas for each of my family and friends. And another for myself. (Santa's Cat) 2020 has been such a difficult year, and I wanted to bring a big smile to my five sisters and friends, It was fun to match up a Lynn Bywaters painting to each person's personality. And next year, my next one will be Cross Country Santa - I love the Santa and pups, and when I raise my eyes up to the moon and tree tops, there is such a wave of expansiveness that washes over me. Wow. Much thanks to Lynn Bywaters for giving decades of joy thru her paintings.

Wow. This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so very much. Cross Country Santa turned out to be prophetic- a few years after I painted it- a friend and I brought home Shiba Inu puppies- sisters- a Black and Tan which was mine, and a Red one for her. And then I was looking at that painting again at the next Christmas......there were our dogs. And we used to go cross-country skiing with them!
