Many colors were used in the painting to represent the diversity and colors of the Internet itself.
Starting at the top left the Internet is shown as a world event surrounded by satellites (also used to transmit the Internet) and planets, our future nodes. Presently the Internet is mainly terrestrial except for the space station. Did you know it will take 20 minutes for an email to reach Mars?
Moving to the right we can see plain old telephone service (POTS.) We would not have todays Internet if the telephone infrastructure had not been built first.
Continuing down from POTS we see the act of using our finger to activate the Internet using everything from power switches to touch screens.
Continuing down from the finger we see icons and certain important letters is our use of the Internet. It is interesting on how important the F has become.
Down from there we see Da vincis study on converting rectilinear to a curve. To the top right of Da vincis study is the ubiquitous Ethernet jack. How do we convert from this electrical connection to the very human ways the Internet affects our lives.
Continuing clockwise we see the @ sign. Without domain names we would not know where we were at on the Internet. For example email@example.com. To the left of the @ sign are piplelines. Our Internet service is determined by the size of our pipline in giga bits per second. As humans we are always trying to put our selves in these piplines on social media.
Finally, there are network topologies strewn about, the top left corner and the bottom right corner, for example. Network topologies determine how the Internet is configured at various places or parts.
