The original of "The Big Question" is 48" high by 36" wide and is part of a very large collection of narrative art based on the last book of the Bible, Revelation.
In this painting, a man searching for answers looks in a drawer that spawns out of a large question mark. When he sees the letters 'i' and 't' and ponders the meaning....asks himself does it mean I, or me, or the cross? Once again he first thinks of himself. Surrounding him are icons symbolic of his quest for power, control, even god-like perfection all within his grasp, but none to remove the emptiness within.
The number 18 is the number of inches between head knowledge and heart knowledge, often said to be the difference between heaven and hell. Revelation 3:20 and other scripture refer to mans salvation, his will, and the the simplicity of faith.
