Her job is simple; keep the babies alive and keep them coming. She is the queen and protector of her kind and her beauty is manifested through the dark iridescence in the wings of black wasps.
The wings of black wasps always fascinated me, like the feathers of crows and ravens. That is the inspiration for this painting. The dark and dangerous beauty that can be seen in her wings and felt through her sting reminds us to have respect for her kind. They have a job to do, pollinating and procreating to help keep the planet fed and alive.
