Helena, thank you so much! (I hafta say, though, MY dog's not very interested in birds - but DEER, now, he loves in a big way!) And thank you, Mary Ellen! I'm glad you find it fun!

I like the look that the you have managed to express on the dog's face .... it is a fun watercolor.

Thanks, Susan! Yes, friends, with the owl leading the way - that's how it feels to me, too. Though I don't think the owl's going anywhere serious; they seem to be just playing.

Wow, you caught this fast, Natalie! Thanks for the compliment - glad you like it!

Hi Eileen! Fantastic watercolor!......love it!.....Natalie

Loved it, saw your work at the Estes Park Art Show around Memorial Day 2018 while visiting Colorado.

Very happy with my purchase, thank you.

I love the piece so much! How well it works in my whimsical blue garden! I just did not know to depict the rabbit hole in the Alice in Wonderland area that this is the perfect conceptual representation. It is beautiful and whimsical. As I had to place it on a stump where a branch had been sawed, I hired a one skilled with a jigsaw to round the edges a bit for visual believability and, after attaching it to the stump, added tiny pieces of bark around the edge to help it blend with the stump. Great discovery!

Somebody shares an image of this with me on august 2nd. I did some research and found this one for sale and bought the version printed on Wood!! I love it! In fact my Abyssinian Fabia loves it too!! She gets up on my dresser and paws the face of this beauty gently!! No claws out thank gosh!! I though it was neat that she found beauty in it as I did! Thanks for having such a fabulous imagination!!

Artist's Description

This is one of the whippets that my daughter and her best friend used to walk - Basil; and an owl; and an almost invisible shimmer in the air. And Basil and the owl are both wearing ceremonial paint, including a tiny hand print on Basil that indicates the very small size of his rider (it could also mean that he's very large, but I'm arbitrarily saying that's not the case).

About Eileen Hale

My Painting a Day Blog My Art Blog My Website (not yet up) The two primary areas of my art are: 1) my personal art, and 2) animal portraits (and sometimes human portraits) on commission. My personal art ranges from fairly pure abstract work - dynamic, restless and shifting, full of motion and emotion, in watercolor, oils and collage - to work that combines figurative, abstract/abstract expressionist and surrealist styles in the same painting, with a dreamlike mix of content. I love color and flow, and I think my work is energetic, and graceful and refined as well as boisterous, naive, playful and clumsy. My vision is to bring many viewpoints together, in a harmony that is not too settled a harmony; I love the counterpoint as well...
