In my barn paintings I am interested in exploring ideas of perception, particularly the view the urban public may have of rural living. Much of our population is now several generations separated from agriculture and many have either a distorted view or a romanticized view of what happens on a farmTo me this barn is a symbol of survival of agriculture in Canada. These barns are a symbol of a life that my ancestors built for themselves, and a dream that bought them to this land in the first place.
