Lois, This is amazing! I've painted boiled crawfish (and corn and potatoes) in acrylic, but can't imagine the difficulty of doing this with colored pencils. Absolutely wonderful!

i've never seen something like this before. and the lobsters (i could not count) make them so lively......eagerly waiting to see your new works.

This is a outstanding work of art Lois. It must have took a long time to do this interesting pieceof artwork?

Beautiful image of Mr. Garcia... photo was tack sharp, colors were saturated, price was a little stiff, but I think it was worth it. This was framed and given to my best friend as a gift. He saw the Grateful Dead in concert over 20 times.

I love George Booth. He is one of the great cartoonists. Where is his work? I search the New Yorker and am unhappy not to find any. Please give us back George Booth. Louise Kurshan

I love these cards with the Clydesdales horses. I had a jumper and I miss riding but I now have bad knees.

Artist's Description

This work was inspired by colored pencil artist, Gary Greene. This was based on a photograph my husband took of a crawfish boil at a friend's house...I learned a great deal about the anatomy of a crawfish doing this picture. It was an enormous challenge and took months to finish. I was very proud that this piece was accepted in a National CPSA show in Memphis several years ago.

About Lois Guthridge

I’ve been doing art in some form or another since high school. I started working in oil painting, and then I tried watercolor. Most of my art training comes from workshops and night school classes. I’ve been doing colored pencil since about 1998, and I definitely enjoy that medium the most. Most people cannot believe colored pencil is so versatile. I am currently Vice President of a local chapter (DC108) of the CPSA, the National Colored Pencil Society of America. I enjoy drawing all subjects; however, I think doors and windows are interesting because there is usually a little mystery as to what might be behind them. I also like capturing interesting shapes and shadows. One of my goals is to do some dog portraits—including a...
