Description
Sun bursting through a crack in the rock, Garden of the Gods city park, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Time 'n again, people ask me if I used a starburst filter to create that star. The answer is no. Creating that star is one of the easiest things in photography. All you need is a sturdy tripod and an SLR ( Single Lens Reflex ) camera. You close the aperture to f/11 or f/16 and you get that star. Inside the lens of an SLR, there's a diaphragm made of a number of blades. When light goes through the lens and the diaphragm, it creates that star. No filter is needed.
