Description

This is a 24x30 acrylic on stretched canvas painted during the 70's, a period of tension in the middle of the cold war. At the center, the road of life has been split. The symbolism is nuclear war terminating life on earth. The mountains symbolize mans accomplishments. The tree stump floating on the ocean has no significance other then to confuse the viewer. The potted plant is a symbol of cause and effect. The tips of each branch were suppose to have a lit cigarette with a bit of smoke spiraling upward. At the same time as the cold war, cigarette smoking was beginning to be condemned.
