This is a contemporary painting done with a palette knife. As paint colors are manipulated on the canvas, shapes start to emerge that often evoke memories of experiences that have shaped my life. This painting brought back fond memories of wandering in the field, often with my riding buddy, to find my horse to saddle up. Sometimes my horse would come running towards me in anticipation of a treat. Other times, he liked to tease me, playing games which sometimes made it difficult to get him back to the barn. For a time, my friend and I had rode our horses bareback with a halter only. We had some interesting experiences. My horse did not like it so much when we went back to saddle and bridle. This painting is one of six of a series of palette knife paintings in a similar color theme that touch on some life experiences young and old.
