Description
The Forge and Blacksmith's Cottage next to the creek at Mylor Bridge.
Until recently blacksmiths have plied their trade near the bridge in the village. William Oak was blacksmith at the end of the 17th century. Later the Reese family took over the forge, first David and then William
The forge shop land was sold for development and replaced by the doctors surgery and the house now named The Forge which was built in 1989, but Lemon Cottage, as it used to be known, is original and has been renamed Blacksmith's Cottage.
Ovens for the Cornish ranges were constructed and mended at the smithy and dredges were repaired for the oyster men and machinery for the farmers. As time went on more ornate iron work was manufactured.

Love that old cottage has been so well maintained, and that the newer construction has been done in the traditional style.
