Description
Shot at the Minneapolis Institute of Art with my Canon SX50 HS, layered with a texture by Pareeerica, processed in PSPX5 Ultimate using Color Efex Pro 3.0 Complete to attempt to recreate the artists intentions for a dramatic display.
Marble statue of St.Paul the Hermit, 1772, by Andrea Bergondi, Italian, 1722-89, Saint Paul lived in Egypt during the 3rd century and is considered the first Hermit saint of Christianity. Fleeing religious persecution, he lived in a desert cave for ninety years. This statue shows the saint looking heavenward, his hands clasped in prayer. It was originally placed within a naturalistic cave made of stucco behind the altar of San Paolo Primo Eremita in Rome. The artist rendered the saint with an emotional intensity that reflects the high baroque style popular during the previous century.
