Art is life is art. Phil Vance was born in 1978 in Sonora, California. He was first exposed to art in his parents' bookstore where he would spend long hours looking through every art book he could get his hands on. It was not long before he was drawing on his own, encouraged by teachers. In high school, art became a passionate escape, a daily obsession as he imitated his favorite artists who's images inspired him to look at the world differently. He attended the University of California Davis in 1998 to pursue a degree in Computer Science but could not stop taking art classes. Eventually his desire to create overwhelmed him and he changed his major to Fine Arts. It was here that he trained in printmaking, photography, and painting....
