Gone, alas, are the days of affordable shoes that fit! Back when lasts for shoes were individually crafted by skilled artisans, one could purchase a well-made pair of shoes that were a pleasure to wear. Even into the middle 20th century, most of our shoes were made here in the US, crafted to fit properly and provide long wear. Now if you want a quality shoe, you'd better have a trust fund.
