The Lautrec Girl In A Ruin Bar In Budapest
Artist
Miki De Goodaboom
Medium
Painting - Watercolour And Ink
Description
Watercolour and ink travel sketch painting in impressionist expressionist of a female character from the French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec drinking an absinthe cocktail in a famous ruin bar from Budapest in Hungary.
I visited the ruin bar quite early in the morning, and there were hardly anybody there, unfortunately. At least I could sketch in peace.
I got the idea to make a mini series of paintings featuring the bar and some famous characters from famous artists. I am starting here with a woman from Toulouse-Lautrec, my favourite artist. I felt the ruin bar is a bar which he, and his characters, would have liked!
Seen and painted during a painting trip to Budapest in October 2014.
