About Juel Grant
To work is to enter into the stream of the pulse of creation. The act of drawing and painting awakens my purpose, renders me present, and stirs me alive. It is my gift, my humility, my bliss, and the means by which I'm best able to span the distance, and enter into the rhythms pulsing through the ever swirling tumult of existence. The VSP series (very small paintings), came about as an interlude, a kind of reprieve from a very time intensive series of drawings & paintings on eggs - elliptical spheres. They continue in the same spirit as the more ambitious spheres, but are rendered as small independent vignettes - thin slices of observation and improvisation.
