The proud turkey and main mascot of Thanksgiving was almost the national symbol of America! Benjamin Franklin thought this bird was the best choice because of it's quick running ability and sharp sight; but, the bald eagle won out. Probably because of it's fierceness and majestic nature. The celebration of a traditional Thanksgiving in many parts of the U.S.A.; however, would not be complete without the legendary Turkey! It adorns the table as the main course during the celebration. This customary dinner was derived from the 'First Thanksgiving Feast' during which it is said; the pilgrims served after their first harvest in the year 1621. This feast according to some accounts, continued for three days and included ninety Indians.
After teaching primarily art for 32 years in the public schools, k-12, in Delta County on the Western Slope of Colorado, I am now ready to concentrate on my own art work and photography. I was raised in the North Fork Valley of the Gunnison River on a small farm at the foot of Mount Lamborn, I now live quietly on another small place about a mile from my childhood home. I have a loving, supportive family: my mother and husband, two adult children, five grandchildren, one dog, one cat, and two small horses who are all the sunshine in my life. We enjoy camping, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, hiking, doing artwork and taking pictures in the beautiful mountains full of wildlife that surround us. All photographs and artwork on this web...
