Lovely work by the artist, but sadly the print was bigger and so I had to cut away a good chunk. Fits into the frame and looks amazing so

Much of the magic of this image for me is the people in it and my history with them. As a kid growing up on a quiet suburban street in the late 60's, I knew most of the neighbors and the man in the foreground, Mr. Bronson, was a one. My friends and I thought of him as a bit of a wizard. He had all this unusual electrical equipment in his house, had several patents, and talked of strange secret projects he had worked on in the past, some military, some not. He could build a keyboard organ from just boxes of parts with no plans. He had spent time as a photographer back when 8x10 cameras were the norm. He was able to grind his own lenses from blanks of glass and even built 6 leaf irises from thin sheets of metal. Of extra interest to the neighborhood kids was a massive stereo system he built all from parts wired to dozens of large speakers juiced with enough wattage to rattle your teeth out and make your scalp tingle. Oh wow, I love it!! It's wonderful!
This is so cool. I saw it years ago and probably commented on it. I too grew grew up in the late fifties and early sixties in a small town back when life was normal. I too grew up on a block with eleven kids in the neighborhood. Like your friend Mr. Bronson, I had a mentor named Mr. Balfanz, a retired Czech auto mechanic who could swat you with a cane, wiggle his ears, wrinkle his forehead and do just about anything. His picture is hanging over my computer to this day.
Congrats on your sale, so cool!!
Congratulations on your recent sale !
There is a very "painterly" quality to The Lightening Catchers, Bryan. Very beautiful art! The subject and scenery reminds me of something that might be painted by artist Andrea Kowch.
Very creative! Great!
I had seen your image in here before...but I had not taken the time to read the story behind it. Bravo!
