The semi-sleepy town of Ridgway, Colorado, known as the "Gateway to the San Juans," began as a dusty railroad and ranching town, and served the nearby mining towns of Telluride and Ouray. The town was named for railroad superintendent Robert M. Ridgway, who established the town in 1891. Much of that history is still evident today - not only in the railroad museum, the dirt streets, but also in great old buildings like this one. Now an artist's home and studio, it was used for a more dangerous pursuit back in the day.
