I was going thru some old photos when I came across a picture of one of America's greatest landscape artists on location in Arizona and decided to incorporated it into this piece. I needed to move a few objects around to make this piece work and I changed the lighting from mid day to later afternoon. Robert Woods was and always will be one of my favorite artists. I learned so much from him about shadow and light, colors, balance and perspective. His work always showed the best that any scene had to offer. He was the master at his craft at his time.
Alan Lakin is from Oklahoma City originally, currently living in the Atlanta, Georgia area. He has been painting most of his life. His favorite mediums are acrylic, oils, water colours and pen and ink. Most of his work is considered impressionism, however he also does portraits or other work on commission. He has received numerous awards for his art and has shown in many galleries nationwide. As Edward W Bok's stated "Make you the world a bit better or more beautiful because you lived in it". Alan believes that those who have the ability to creat art must let their visions loose.
