In most Caribbean islands, it is easy to walk through the passage way from the Waterfront to the Main Street. Shown here is a favorite walkway for me. I remember slowly walking the the passage way looking in and out of the stores and enjoying the smells of the plants hanging from the walls... a tranquil walk.
About Dixie Lee Hedrington
The Caribbean is the inspiration for many of my art pieces. The vivid sunshine, cool evening sunsets, bright blues of the waters, cultural lifestyle and history of my little island of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, prompted me to paint daily. As a child, I would sketch on paper, painted on driftwood that washed up on the shore and painted several small pieces using water colors, but in 1990, I created my first painting on canvas entitled "Island Woman." When it was finished and I stood back and studied it, I knew I wanted to paint for the rest of my life... and have done that ever since.
