Artist's Description
The Animal that has a Nose Horn.
Did you know that the rhino’s whole name, rhinoceros, is actually two combined Greek words meaning nose and horn? The rhino is known for its large horn springing out from its nose. Though some may believe a rhino’s horn is a part of its skull, the horn is actually made of keratin, the same material that builds up your hair and fingernails. Even with its obviously enormous size, trying to outrun a rhino won’t do you any good, as it can run at a top speed of 40 miles per hour, making the option of climbing a tree a better option.
The Rhino painting is part of a collection called the Safari. In this series animals from the safari are painted as highly detailed drawings with hints of color. This gives a unique portrait of the animal. The most unique thing about the rhino is his horns so here the rhino is shown with his horns as the main attraction.
About William Depaula
DePaula is known at the Island Artist. From the time he was knee-high to a crocodile, DePaula has wanted to draw. DePaula wants to bring people the beauty, the colors and the sense of relaxation of the islands he loves. He envisions a world in which beauty is as important as function, where culture and history are fiercely preserved, and where islands are havens to be protected. DePaula creates a world of vibrance and subtle mystery. William’s world is filled with vivid life and color. The pictures give you an energy of what was painted or drawn. The work is a blend of the dramatic influence of the early masters and the simplicity of the modern masters. To learn more about the Island Artist visit, http://www.theislandartist.com
