For a bird loving friend it’s perfect.Made her smile

It didn't turn out as good as I expected, although it is still very nice. I suspect it's because it is so much larger than the original painting. The colors are not nearly as bright as the painting, that is they look faded.

I would like a refund. It’s not the color as shown I wanted Dk brown as described in the picture shown.

Artist's Description

I was inspired to paint this old, abandoned house along a country road and was inspired to paint not only because of the building, but also because of the shape and configuration of the trees and by the terrific light that floods the whole scene. There was a beautiful, almost mysterious feel to the place-a lovely present and an almost discernable past. I was invited to imagine the lives of the people who lived there (and called it home!), the history they experienced and the memories they made in that “once upon a time”. My intention was to capture that feel, that mystery, by paying special attention to the light that permeates the scene creating marvelous lights and darks. The work necessary to create that light, especially in the trees and on the shack’s siding and vines was well worth it! I think it works fairly well and I hope it transports you to the shack and to its mystery.

About Jim Gerkin

Jim is a graduate of West Virginia University. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Art in 1970 and a Master's of Instructional Design in 1977. An artist all of his life, Jim took some instruction with Leland McLelland after moving to Central Ohio at the end of 1977. This was a pivotal time for Jim because he finally learned watercolor techniques which allowed him to illustrate. A realistic interpreter of what he sees, Jim finally felt like he'd found the medium that he could identify with. Though watercolor can be unforgiving, Jim has learned to create beautiful watercolors of the things he loves best. As you view his work you will see some of the same themes: barns, old barns with such character; farmsteads, yes you will see some...
