Moved by a great need to utilize charcoal and some of my warmer colored pencils, this piece depicts two contrasting sensations existing in one space. The heavy use of charcoal brings about a dark sensation while the vivid orange, slight use of yellow, and tints of blue in the skies reflect a sense of warmth, light and hope in the horizon. As the darker sensation appears to overwhelm the warmer and brighter parts of the piece, the darker counterpart is unable to succeed due to the power exuded by the warmer colors.

Inspired by nature, life experiences, and the need to express emotions, I have been drawing and painting for most of my life. While you will find a variety of themes depicted in my artwork, the primary subject will nearly center around portraits and the natural world. Both painting and drawing allow me to express the ups and downs that I experience when encountering the different motions and aspects of life.
