Description
Before electronic calculators were developed, slide rules were the tool used most often in science and engineering. The use of slide rules continued to grow through the 1950s and 1960s even as digital computing devices were gradually introduced; but around 1974 the electronic scientific calculator made the slide rule largely obsolete and most suppliers exited the business.

I love it, Paul. Still one of the best calculators. What a great nostalgic image. I remember that when I was college that you could always tell who was an engineering student because they had a big slide rule on their belt. They probably didn't know how to use all of the scales, but it really made them look "smart." I still have mine, but it is just a small one, but I still know hw to use all of the scales.

Reminds me about the time in high school - some time has passed... I have that handy calculator somewhere. Nice photo!
