I ventured forth to create them in illustrations…starting with The Sower. To not detour people away, I chose to not make the images noticeably Christian.
So I drew a 1920s farmer hand sowing the wheat along a path with rocks, birds, weeds and full heads of wheat. When we made prints of this we hoped viewers would ask what it was about. Well, a short time later we gave this print to a friend whose father was in the hospital dying of cancer. His dad who was turned off by religion at first grunted, yet asked his son to put it on the wall by his bed so he would have something to look at. A few nights later when our friend came to see visit, his dad asked him what was that drawing about. Mark explained the parable about accepting deep in our hearts the seed of Christ.
