This oil won Honorable Mention in a NJ state wide art show at Rutgers University in 1974 titled "Emerging Artists". It has the further distinction of being the only painting stolen from the show. I anyone knows of its whereabouts, please let me know. It has been lost for 36 years. $
About Donald Maier
Donald Maier graduated from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts, in Newark, New Jersey in 1968. He won several state and local show awards in the early seventies, including 1st place in oils at the Garden State Art Center in 1971, 1st place for Watercolor at the Red Bank Festival of Arts in 1972 and an Honorable Mention in the Emerging Artists exhibit at Rutgers University in 1973. He had numerous one-man shows in both New Jersey, California and Georgia and has exhibited in many fine galleries in California, Scottsdale, Arizona, Santa Fe, New Mexico and Georgia. This is actually at the end of the boardwalk in Avon, NJ, at the beach we called Washington Ave Beach. It was the southern most beach in Avon and "The Specator" was sitting watching the bathers and the boats coming and going into the mouth of the Shark River Inlet that he was facing.

Very interesting piece. 'Love the thought behind it -- I take, to be a composite, with a soccer (?) game going on beyond the fence, and the illusion of blocks of "transparent" color.
