The only known bird able to fly backward, this Anna's hummingbird resides in my lemon tree and guards two feeders at the same time! He chases any other birds that might even look like they would like a drink of the nectar. This is his favorite branch where he is able to observe all directions while he is on duty. Hummingbirds are friendly little tiny creatures that don't seem to mind if you want to get very close for a photo. When the feeder is enpty they have been known to hover at the porch door for attention. Sometimes they will even get right "in your face" as if to greet you personally. They seem facinated with the human species.
