Description
Prior to and during the time of Jesus, the temple provided a variety of services to its community and received offerings at designated times of the year. During one of these visits, Jesus observed those of means selfishly giving little and saw a poor widow sacrificially give two mites, the smallest of value, which was all she had. Jesus noted that she had given more than anyone. Though she is not named, her story is preserved in the books of Mark and Luke.
