When I was a boy we would visit my grandparents in West Virginia every other summer. On one visit, I was playing with some neighborhood kids when another boy arrived. He was introduced to me with the additional biographical information that he was color blind and could only see red and black. I was astonished and have, over the years, thought about that boy and how he saw the world. I have read a little on the topic, but could never find any information that describes this particular condition. In more recent times a device called an eyeborg was developed that allows people who see no color at all to learn sounds that are related to various colors. An artist named Neil Harbisson has begun to paint in color utilizing an eyeborg. This picture attempts to relay what that nameless, color blind boy saw.
