Artist's Description
Built to ship canned salmon from Oregon to San Francisco in the late 1800's and later serving as a river tug in Alaska and ocean going tug, the Mary D. Hume was brought back to her place of origin to be restored in the 1970's. As she was being lifted out of the water, the straps holding her broke and she crashed to the bottom breaking her keel. Unable to be repaired, she was left as she was and is now a state monument.

Thank you, Fiona. I looked at your photographs and they are beautifully done. You have a great eye for your subject and composition. The Mary D. Hume, unfortunately, is in much worse shape than when this photo was made. The wheelhouse is caved in and she is quickly rotting away. I am glad I was able to get this shot when I did.
