The farm I grew up on in the Midwest, during the 1960's &70's was much different from the ones you see today. We had an old wooden farrowing house, which is a small barn structure with wood slat stalls that the Momma pigs would lie in and give birth. I remember many nights doing homework, sitting in the fresh straw under the light of a heat lamp...waiting for the "little pigs" to come. I would help them along, clean them off, clean and change the straw bedding and then get them all settled & situated to nurse. This piece comes from those memories.
Original artwork is soft pastel on a prepared hardboard panel.
