This photograph of Thomas Dilward actor, singer, dancer, entertainer whose stage name was " Japanese Tommy " no doubt conjured up by his whte promoters trying to hide his ethnicity. Born in 1840 and only 36 inches tall and living in a time of despicable shame perpetrated by white america against members of his race. Dilward with his stout heart and splendid talents of singing, dancing, and violin playing was allowed to take the stage with whites at a time when no blackman could. Thomas Dilward an example of what human beings can be. He died in 1902.
