Who buys a painting of a goat???? Well it turns out I did, as a gift for my sister who recently lost her beloved Nubian Dam "Drama" ( to some weird goat disease). My sister was SO thrilled with the painting! I don't have a photo of where she hung it but I know it was given a place of honor in her home! Thank you so much to the artist Dottie Draco and to Fine Art America for brokering the painting. Will definitely recommend to friend's and family!

Artist's Description

Throat in glandular fever. Close-up of the inflamed tonsils of a 23-year-old male patient with glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis). This acute viral infection is caused either by the Epstein-Barr virus or cytomegalovirus. Once in the body the virus multiplies inside lymphocyte white blood cells. Symptoms include high fever, sore throat and swollen lymph nodes, particularly in the neck. The diagnosis is made by a blood smear or a test for antibodies. Most patients recover within 4-6 weeks but frequently feel tired and run-down for a further two or three months. Here, the uvula (centre) can be seen between the two tonsils.

About Dr P. Marazzi

Science Photo Library was founded in 1981 by Michael Marten, one of the authors of "Worlds Within Worlds", a book exploring different ways to observe the universe - from electron micrographs, to images of earthrise taken from the Apollo spacecraft. When Marten started receiving requests for the beautiful images in the book, he had an idea of setting up Science Photo Library. Since then, Science Photo Library has continued to work alongside world acclaimed photographers and the leading science and medical experts to provide a central source of the best science and specialist imagery available. Although the collection started with scientific images, it has grown to encompass all aspects of science and their impact on everyday life.
