A superbly composed and wonderfully atmospheric work! (What is Maroflaged wood?) v/f

Thomas Akers replied:

For floks that paint on panels you always risk the flaking of paint at the margins on a finished painting. Centuries ago painters solved the problem by using rabbit skin glue to adhere a linen or other organic fabric to the wood before applying gesso and wrapping it across the edge to the panel's back. It has the advantage of providing a luminous ground particulary with marble dust gesso and some of the "feel" of canvas. Thanks for the kind remarks, Tom
