In silence of the canyon depths, the sound of the little narrow gauge engine seems like thunder. The inspiration for this painting came from Colorado's beautiful Phantom Canyon between Canon City and Cripple Creek.

I am an American artist who specializes in transportation subjects. I am retired after a 34 year career in the freight railroad industry, so I am familiar with my favorite subject matter. My objective is to capture the essence of a scene or a machine, but without distracting detail. In many of the paintings, I have worked to create a sense of motion.
