I think turkeys are some of the most amazing birds I have ever laid eyes on. I captured this one at the Thompson Grist Mill near Shedd Oregon.
He was trying to protect his territory by puffing his chest up and making some very interesting noises. They sounded like deep buffs of air coming from his body. It was very interesting to listen to.
I dared not get to close to him for fear he would have charged me. Good thing there was a fence between him and me.
I think their colors are amazing and especially around the head and neck.

Ohh! I don't think I have ever seen a turkey so close up! His brown feathers look a bit like a fir cone!! And the blue and red is astonishing! Incredibly detailed,vibrant and beautiful work! v/f
