Northern England became a target travel destination after watching years of the television series “All Creatures Great and Small”, the story of a Yorkshire vet. Yorkshire remains some of the best country over which I’ve ever walked.

The city of London is a wonderful place, full of history and very old architecture, various odd accents, and for me, terrible pub food. I soon learned to eat in Italian restaurants! I would never explore London without carrying a camera, as there is literally a photo op around every corner.

Wales and Scotland are also very scenic, and make for superior walking trips. I found the light everywhere in the UK to be quite benign; soft, gentle on the photographic system, and infinitely variable.

Travel photographers everywhere try to make their images "destination specific" ... no mistaking where this photo was made, with the London Life Guard prominent in the composition!

I have been doing serious photography for about four decades, almost all of it using slide film, until my first purchase of a digital camera some years ago. Since I first took the New York Institute of Photography correspondence courses, I've lost track of the number of additional courses, workshops, and field trips that have enhanced and expanded my photographic experience. The same is true of my experience in the digital world, which began with programming 6502 processors (remember the Apple II?) in Basic, and later, machine language. With the advent of the IBM personal computers, and their many clones, my interest in programming has shifted to using many of the excellent software packages produced by those much more capable than I. ...
