On this street was reputed to be the most famous gelateria in Rome, a place called Giolitti's. It is located a couple of blocks off the northwest corner of the Piazza Montecitorio Naturally, I had to go there and have some gelato! A day without gelato in Rome is like a day without sunshine. The way that you purchased gelato in most places was first to go to the cash register and pay for the gelato, get your receipt, and then get in line to order. Of course, I hadn't figured that system out yet when I was at Giolitti's so after a wait in line, I had to go back and pay and start all over again. The wait was worth it for the gelato, but perhaps not the friendly service. After having a snack we headed back toward the bright light of the Piazza Montecitorio and on to the Pantheon! The bright white facade seen in the photo is the Parliament building.
