Description
On a sunny Sunday afternoon there are often as many as 25,000 visitors at the Tower of London, but Yesterday it was deserted owing to a strike of the 38 Yeoman Warders - the BEEFEATERS - who have started staging strikes every Sunday through a pay claim of 25 shillings a week, and a six hour out in their 48 hour week. Yesterday the Beefeaters refused to act as guides, and only six of them were on duty, guarding the Crown Jewels. PHOTO SHOWS: - A solitary Yeomen Warder stands at the gate of the deserted Tower of London yesterday.
