San Gimignano was a place that struck me during a semester abroad in Italy while attending art school at Syracuse University. I have a little bit of Italian roots, so I feel very connected to the country and land. The view overlooking the rolling Tuscan hills from the hill town of San Gimignano was breathtaking and became the impetus for several landscapes. This was the largest piece I painted and the original went to a very special home.
Jennie Traill Schaeffer is a painter and teaching artist holding a BFA in painting and art education from Syracuse University. Schaeffer has an extensive exhibition history with both traditional and online galleries, and in 2012 earned her first acceptance into a show at the Noyes Museum. Her works have earned her publication by the New York Times, The Village Voice, OurHouse Magazine, NJSavvy Living, Sussex Journal, JerseyArts.com, and a Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Scholarship. Schaeffer’s artistic pursuits have resulted in numerous private commissions, public art projects, and helped the revitalization of Newton, NJ, where she ran TraillWorks as a retail studio and art gallery for five years.
