I purchased three of these notebooks for gifts and I am thrilled with the purchase. Everything about the notebook is quality- the paper, the reproduction of the print and the way they were bagged for shipping. I will be back to purchase more soon.

This is a biennial plant often mistaken for grass before it blooms in it's second year of life. The seed head is like a huge dandelion with the wind acting as a dispersal agent for the seeds. The plant is gradually spreading from the western areas of the United States toward the East.

I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....

Such a beautiful capture, Carol! I just love the texture of this unique plant and the web like look to each part. I believe, when I was a child, my grandmother and I used to pick some of these or very similar to it. And she would use pastel colors of spray paint and lightly coat these, and she would use them in floral arrangements. I remember the various colors she created and how beautiful they were. Thanks for sharing the memories with this fine piece, Carol, as it is much appreciated!
Carol Senske replied:
Thank YOU, Randy, for the sweet comment:>). Memories are built on such small things yet mean the world. I can picture her painting them and making gorgeous arrangements.
